Just for the Record: A Vinyl Day – Is waiting for you at the Silver Spring Library on Saturday, April 27th!
Do you love music? Are you a fan of Vinyl Records? Are you curious about them? Join us for our second annual Just for the Record: A
Vinyl Day Festival. This year’s festivities will run from 12pm to
4 pm. Come and enjoy a viewing of the
documentary Feast Your Ears , a panel discussion on creating and
collecting vinyl records, a turntable experience, and a book signing with local
author and former WHFS deejay Cerphe Colwell.
For the first time, MCPL will host a music
competition called Make Music Montgomery, where several
musical acts from around the County will perform for us in front of a panel of celebrity
community judges. We’ll also have the
very popular vinyl record craft project for kids age 0 – forever and the
Friends of the Library Record Sale running during the event. Following Make Music Montgomery, there will
be a record listening room to close out the day. Come to the libraries’ main floor starting at
12pm to be a part of the action. Dress
up as your favorite musician to maximize the fun!
We hope to see you there at the Silver Spring Library. No advanced registration is needed. Stop by throughout the day, join in the fun, and bring the whole family!
Check for posters and displays at some of our local branches. Every branch has a few cool “record” magnets for the lucky first few to inquire! Check out the MCPL Podcast, Library Matters for two episodes that relate to music and vinyl records:
Episode #45: Get in Tune with Music at MCPL, &
Episode # 27: Vinyl Records and Other Retro Tech.
This event is hosted in partnership with MCPL, Friends of the Library , Montgomery County, Inc., Friends of the Library, Silver Spring Chapter, Levine Music, and Open Sky Jazz and KEFA Cafe.
