Celebrate Older Americans Month with MCPL!

Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL) is joining in the recognition of Older Americans Month in May by highlighting the many services and programs provided by MCPL to Montgomery County residents ages 50 and older.  

“Adults ages 50+ are a welcome and important group in our library community,” said Anita Vassallo, acting MCPL director. “We continue to add to our services, resources, and programs for older users, and invite everyone to check our website or stop by a branch to see what’s new and exciting.” 

More than 137,000 adult users participate annually in adult learning programs such as English conversation, workforce development, business counseling, online learning and much more. Programs on basic computer assistance, digital culture, cloud storage, digital photography, iPad basics, and computer tutoring as well as meditation, tai chi and yoga classes, book discussions, films and other programs are popular with residents 50 years and older.  

Programs such as the RSVP/AARP Tax Aide Program and Bone Builders specifically serve older adults.  

Montgomery County Volunteer Center will hold the 50+: Living Through Volunteering event from 2 to 3 p.m. on Monday, May 6. The volunteer fair will be held at the Gaithersburg Library located at 18330 Montgomery Village Ave.
