Montgomery County Public Libraries Celebrates Library Lovers Month

County Executive Marc Elrich joined by Council President Tom Hucker, Councilmember Will Jawando, lead for Libraries, MCPL Director Anita Vassallo, and Friends of the Library, Montgomery County, Inc. (FOLMC) Executive Director Ari Brooks proclaimed February as Library Lovers Month.

This annual event celebrates and showcases the importance of libraries in Montgomery County. The theme this year is “Libraries are Instrumental”. MCPL and FOLMC will kick off Library Lovers’ Month with a special virtual celebration at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6

Family entertainer Sonia de los Santos will perform a lively concert singing in English and Spanish. Ms. de los Santos has been featured on NBC’s Visiones, Sirius XM’s Kids Place Live and WXPN’s Kids Corner among others. She has also made numerous appearances as a singer and guitarist on television shows like ABC’s Good Morning America, CBS’s The Early Show, and Sprout’s The Sunny Side up Show. She has performed with her band in renowned venues and festivals such as Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, The Getty Museum, Smithsonian Folklife Festival, and more.
