Day of the Record — Vinyl Day 2021

Featuring the Make Music Montgomery contest, a panel discussion, and a record-pricing workshop.

The Friends of the Library, Montgomery County (FOLMC), Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL), and other sponsors have put the needle back on!  Virtual Just for the Record – A Vinyl Day 2021 will spin in cyberspace on Saturday, April 17th from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Facebook Live!  

The day’s activities include:

12 p.m. – Make Music Montgomery contest, featuring performances from our residents, with judging and commentary by a distinguished panel of experts.  

1  p.m. – Vinyl Records Workshop – A workshop on vinyl record pricing hosted by Lance Salins, Director of Business Operations of Friends of the Library Montgomery County, Inc. and antiques collector, Ray Brennan.

2 p.m. – Panel Discussion on Racial Equity and Social Justice in Music, moderated by Garrett McQueen, musician, equity and equity consultant. Panel members include Olivia Ellis Randolph and Dianne Be of Takoma Radio (WOWD-FM) and Daryl Davis, international recording artist, actor, author and leader of The Daryl Davis Band.
