Kids K-3rd Grade, Join the Grandreaders Program This Summer!

Students going into Kindergarten through third grade can practice their reading skills this summer at the Gaithersburg Library, Aspen Hill Library and Wheaton Library. Children will read one-on-one with volunteers, in partnership with the Jewish Council for the Aging (JCA) – Heyman Interages Center.

Grandreaders is designed to improve elementary students’ ability to read more fluently and with better comprehension, providing an opportunity for children to keep their reading skills sharp during the summer and be more prepared when they return to school.

Kids can bring their own book or select one from the library. The program will run for 5 weeks, from the last week of June until the end of July, with no pre-registration required. Click the Grandreaders event link on our calendar for dates and times at each branch.

Facilitators have requested all attendees to wear masks while attending the sessions.  All attendees will be required to wear masks.
