We’re All Together Now at Montgomery County Public Libraries this summer!
Starting June 15, children ages 0-12 and teens ages 13-17 can join the 2023 Summer Reading Challenge! Join in to keep up your reading skills, earn e-badges, and do fun activities.
The 2023 Summer Reading Challenge! Kickoff party happens rain or shine this Saturday, June 17, from 10:30 – 12:00 noon at Rockville Memorial Library.
Ghanaian drummer and storyteller Kofi Dennis will kick off the day’s events on the outdoor stage, followed by a Family Storytime led by Ms. Maranda of Germantown Library.

Throughout the morning, Abracadabra Alex will stroll through the crowd making magic, and there might be a special guest visit by a Washington Nationals baseball team player, or their mascot, Screech.

Indoors, sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge! and pick up your free book in the first floor meeting room. Meet ‘n Greets with Read to a Dog service dogs will happen in Library Collaboration Spaces, and children of all ages will find crafts to make at the maker tables in the atrium. Plus, there will be a photo booth, scavenger hunt, and our very own MCPL Kindness Mascot. If it rains, all festivities will move indoors.
