Let’s Spread a Little Kindness and Celebrate Random Acts of Kindness Week!
Random Acts of Kindness Week is just around the corner, July 30-August 5, and we hope you’ll join in our celebrations.
Children and teens who participate in our Summer Reading Challenge! are spreading kindness around Montgomery County. If your child hasn’t registered, it’s not too late. Just go to the online Summer Reading Challenge! hub or stop by the Information Desk in any Montgomery County Library and sign up.

By reading and/or completing activities, children can show kindness in several ways.

When they receive their first e-badge, Animal All-Star, they are helping adoptable pets find forever homes through Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center and Friends of Montgomery County Animals.

When they receive their second e-badge, Kindness Rock Star, they are showing kindness to people in need in our community by providing food from Manna Food Center.

Last, but certainly not least, when participants receive their third and final e-badge, Planeteer, they are being kind to the planet by helping Montgomery Parks Foundation make our county greener through solar energy.
Every branch of Montgomery County Libraries will be celebrating Random Acts of Kindness Week with book displays, crafts, and programs. Whether you chalk the walk, paint a kindness rock or make a heart-shaped origami bookmark, let’s join together to create a world of kindness. One that we want for ourselves and future generations.

Check out your local branch and see what fun things are going on. Don’t forget to take a photo with Monty the Service Dog while you’re there and tag #MCPLreads.
