Celebrate Halloween 2023 at MCPL

Join our 2023 Halloween events!

MCPL hosts a variety of Halloween events across the county in our branches. From pumpkin painting, spooky gingerbread houses and storytimes to the tried-and-true trick or treat, you’ll find your holiday fun at the library!

Halloween Events Schedule

Thursday, October 5:

5-7pm

Teen Tober Movies and Music- at Germantown Library 

Join us every Thursday in October for some fun activities mixed with the spirit of Halloween! A movie each week, games, crafts, and of course refreshments!

Tuesday, October 10:

6-7:30pm

Pumpkin Ornaments Craft Activity and Wheaton Teen Advisory Board (TAB) Meeting – Halloween Craft(s) at Wheaton Library

Short meeting of the Wheaton Teen Advisory Board followed by a fun, stress-relieving Halloween craft and pizza!

Thursday, October 19:

5-7pm

Halloween Family Storytime at Twinbrook – Followed by Stay and Play!

Storytime followed by costumes parade and trick or treat

Wednesday, October 25:

10:30am – 12:00pm

Halloween Storytime and Costume Parade – at Olney Library

followed by Stay and Play time.

10:30am – 11:00am

Halloween Special! Baby/Toddler Storytime at Damascus – Wear a costume (optional) for this special Storytime.

Get up and get moving at storytime! These 20-30-minute programs are full of a diverse collection of books, songs and fun activities. For children ages birth through 36 months (2 years).

4:30-6pm

Build a Haunted Gingerbread House! – In-person – Teens can build a scary treat that will be sweet to eat

Gingerbread houses don’t always have to look sweet and friendly! Join us to make a spooky gingerbread house with Halloween colors and candy. Then take it home for a spooky snack!

A family storytime filled with spooky stories, songs, and more!

Halloween Family Storytime at Maggie Nightingale Library – Wear your costume!

Wear a costume (if you like) to this special Halloween storytime featuring not-so-scary Halloween stories, music, rhymes and more!

2-3pm

Trick-or-Treat at the Library – at Gaithersburg Library

Dress in your best costume for some pre-Halloween trick-or-treating. There will be little treats, games, crafts, and a whole lot of fun!

Tuesday, October 31

10:30am – 11:00am

Halloween Family Storytime at Kensington Park Library

Join us for Halloween storytime! This 25-30 minute event is designed to delight children of all ages & is filled with diverse stories & activities that promote & develop language skills & imagination.

Halloween Special! Preschool Storytime at Damascus – Wear a costume (optional) for an indoor parade!

A storytime experience for preschool age children and their caregivers. Today’s stories celebrate Halloween! Wear a costume (optional) for an indoor parade!

5-6pm

Teen Event: Halloween Pumpkin Painting!

Join us for Halloween pumpkin painting fun at the Aspen Hill Library! Registration required.REGISTER
